Dr. Ann Linton-Maynard
Dr. Ann Linton has been active in Dentistry for over thirty eight years. She started as a Dental Assistant and later worked as an Assistant Administrator for a large multi-chair practice.
Born in London, England Dr. Linton completed grade school and emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1974 to complete her education. After earning a B.S. degree from Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY she attended the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery Dental School at the University of Maryland and graduated in 1986 with honors. Her achievements include recognition in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges 1985-86., Outstanding Young Women of America 1984, and placement on the Dean’s list.
Following dental school, she completed a 2 year hospital residency program at Harlem Hospital in affiliation with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Linton served as a teaching attendant at Harlem Hospital in New York City working with the hospital’s Dental residents. Following her work at Harlem Hospital she attended Long Island College in Brooklyn, NY and was awarded a Masters of Public Health degree.
Dr. Linton owned and operated a private practice in Brooklyn, NY for nine years before relocating to Savannah Ga. For the past nineteen years Dr. Linton has operated the private practice Abercorn Family Dentistry at the corner of Abercorn & Henry Streets in Savannah, Ga. She opened a second location Georgetown Family Dentistry in 2011.
Dr. Linton believes strongly in serving the community and has organized and participated in numerous health fairs to educate and promote proper dental hygiene especially to the youth and the elderly. In June of 2008 Dr. Linton accompanied by her children traveled to Ghana, Africa with the Goodness of Mercy Foundation to participate in a one week mission trip to deliver badly needed healthcare to residents of the impoverished area in Konongo village.
She has published booklets and articles on various current issues related to Dentistry including the diagnosis and treatment of halitosis (bad breath), issues surrounding the use of cosmetically applied gold caps by young adults and preventing the spread of infectious disease such as HIV via contamination in the Dental Office.
Dr. Linton believes in being a role model for young adults and children. She is a regular participant in career days of various community schools speaking on the many career opportunities in the field of Dentistry. Dr. Linton is a member of the Savannah area chapter of the Links incorporated and takes an active role in promoting the organization’s programs and activities with local schools and community groups. She is a life member of the National Council of Negro Women, and is on the Alfred Ely Beach High School work-based learning advisory board. Dr. Linton is also a member of the Savannah Dental Society. Dr. Linton received the 2007 Spirit of Excellence Business of The Year award and is a 2009 inductee of the 100/Plus Black Women of Influence. She is a very compassionate, gentle person and is sensitive to the needs of the dental phobic patient. She believes in staying current with the advances in dental research to enable her to provide the latest and best possible high quality care to her patients.
